My approach
My priority as your therapist is to create a meaningful therapeutic relationship and foster a safe, nurturing space, where you can freely explore your concerns. A creative space in which we create meaning together, through dialogue. I will work collaboratively with you to tailor therapy according to your needs and goals.
My therapeutic approach is integrative, predominantly informed by relational psychodynamic theory. You can read more about this here. I am also influenced by somatic, humanistic and systemic ideas.
I tend to offer long-term psychotherapy, which is a process requiring time and a commitment to attending regular sessions, but which offers the potential to produce profound and lasting change. However, I understand this is not always possible and where needed I can accommodate shorter term therapy specifically focused on a particular goal.
Qualifications
I hold a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours ; University of Newcastle), and a Master of Clinical Psychology (Queensland University of Technology). My PhD is related to a previous career in science.
I am registered as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and currently undertaking the registrar program towards endorsement as a clinical psychologist.
I am a member of the Australian Psychological Society and committed to upholding professional and ethical standards in my psychological practice.
